Development of new (un)targeted screening tools – MALDI profiling

MALDI profiling with FT-ICR-MS is a high end analytical tool to analyze biological samples extremely fast and to distinguish between lipids based on their molecular mass. In combination with Dried Blood Spot this tool is very well suited for direct and fast screening approach. However, also direct measurements of tissue, biological samples or biomedical materials is in theory applicable. The untargeted approach (looking at a an as broad as possible number of lipids) and the targeted approach (looking at specific lipids in detail) can be applied. This technology is evaluated and if applicable to be used for one or more of the activities T1.1-5

  • Development of new (un)targeted screening tools – MS-imaging

    MS imaging is a high end analytical tool to image biological samples and biomedical material. This tool is interesting to localize lipids on surfaces of tissue and biomedical materials, to look for specific interactions and (non)homogenic distributions. This can be performed in both targeted (looking at specific lipids) and untargeted (looking at a broad range of different lipids). The technique makes it possible to investigate the specific roles of different lipids. This technology is evaluated and if applicable to be used for one or more of the activities

    Development of new (un)targeted screenings tools - 2D-LC-MS

    2D LC MS is a high end analytical tool to analyze biological samples in extreme detail. Although in general this takes more time, a very broad range of lipids and lipid classes can be separated and selectively identified and/or quantified. Especially the analysis of biological samples and biomedical material extracts are applicable for detailed analyis. The untargeted approach (looking at a an as broad as possible number of lipids) and the targeted approach (looking at specific lipids in detail) are in scope. This technology is evaluated and if applicable to be used for one or more of the activities T1.1-5

  • Development of new (un)targeted screenings tools – ASAP/LC/shotgun-IMS-MS/MS

    ASAP/LC/shotgun-IMS-MS/MS is an assembly of high end analytical tools which can be used simultaneously or as stand alone. Especially specific combination of these tools will give new opportunities for both targeted and untargeted analysis. Methodologies can be very fast but complex, they can be used for quantitative purposes, but also for very fast screening of potential interesting lipids. Biological samples and biomedical material can be applied to these technologies . The untargeted approach (looking at a an as broad as possible number of lipids) and the targeted approach (looking at specific lipids in detail) will be investigated. This technology is evaluated and if applicable to be used for one or more of the activities T1.1-5
